I love finding randomly obscure Indie songs, and these things can just happen out of nowhere, with me. I was sitting on the sofa, meditating, as 1 does, when the audio ended, and I heard this song my daughter was playing she often has similar eclectic tastes like myself.
And, I heard this track and was like: WOW!
So, naturally, I got up, n went to my daughter's room and asked about this song. SO, she texted me the video, and I tracked it down.
it has that old school MySpace days kind of feel to it.
It still feels very FRESH to me, and has this very satisfying & catchy VIBE to it!
So, ever since my friend David Biedny died he's actually been highly active in my life, and music comes my way in a MASSIVE WAY... I could write A LOT ABOUT THIS, and I've blogged about it elsewhere. But, 1 such track was called "Tattoo" by Loreen, who's 1 of the very few singers to win Eurovision twice.
I generally don't follow Eurovision, unless someone I was "flowing" or was friends with mentions a track from 1 of the Eurovision competitions, and I check it out, and like it.
I was scrolling through YouTube, when this image of the thumbnail of this video kept popping up, on every single video, and each time I came to YouTube.
Then when I noticed the TITLE of this song was "TATTOO" immediately I was like: DAVID!!!

So, I watched the video, n I was STRUCK by JUST HOW MUCH SHE LOOKED SO SIMILARLY to my O.C. Djehkäujaa that it FREAKED ME OUT!!!!
Then, I fell down the rabbit hole of Loreen... Parts of this song, were Arabic orchestral, and in the Live performance I saw she'd inserted various Scandinavian Runes & Staves, whcih are thing whcih KEEP on popping up in my life since David died.
Other things which kept showing up in Loreen's videos and stage performances, and lyrics, would either remind me of my beloved friend, David, or even answered my questions, but many of the intentional choices she made for things, like mountains, symbols, words, would remind me of Djehkäujaa whom I started creating back in 1997, then started evolving and really taking shape in summer 1998 and then early on in 1999.
So, was David Biedny and Bill Martone (my teacher who passed away just before David Did) have something they were trying to convey to me?
I don't know. But, the experience of all of this is QUITE INTERESTING!
And, even Loreen has videos of herself standing on a Mountain, whcih is like the dream of had, of a figure, whom turned out to be David Biedny, with me, atop a unique mountain in the Himalayas, whcih took a long time to figure out was "Mount Meru" which is literally Mount Kailash in Tibet.
So, I've played several tracks by Loreen since I'd 1st come across that video with that song!
Not long after I heard Loreen's track "Feel's Like Heaven" I found a similar sounding song, tho also different, by a band called "Dead Can Dance" (the name says it all!) called "Opium" which has these melancholy lyrics in it, that remind me of David before he passed away.
We'd had various exchanges, but he'd often pull away from me, tho' he was my favorite, and he was very moody. He'd tell me about how he was a recluse, and wanted to be away from people... which was odd for such a social person. I KNEW that something was wrong w him, but I didn't know what. He's sometimes tell me some things, and it was very personal, like he told me his recent ex girlfriend at that time was abusing him.
Since David passed away, I learned A LOT of things, and he was a teacher at Yale University, so I guess this figures! I learned about a lot of things he'd never told me when he was alive, but also the things he had told me, but were somehow blocked from my memories.
Anyways...
I'd also taken my old songs I made from about 10 years ago, or longer, and started re-working them again.
2 years ago, comedian Kyle Gordon had a MASSIVE HIT that was spooffing 90s Eurodance called "Planet of The Bass" and this frickn song, altho' hevaily teasing stereotypes of the 90s Eurodance techno genre WAS SOOOOOOOOO FUCKING GOOD that EVERYONE KNEW ABOUT IT!
I COULD NOT GET A TICKET TO HIS SHOW IN BOSTON!!!!
But, the thing about this song, despite the intentionally teasing of the old European mis-use of English, probably mostly picking on a personal favorite like "Masterboy" which kicks ass in so many awesome tracks, despite having oddly used English words or phrases, or perhaps various tracks by "MAXX" people LOVED THIS SONG even MORE than the funny lyrics, and comedy. He's a great comedian, honestly. But, there were so many klips on his social media with this song, spooffing this genre, like how some many 90s Eurodance techno groups would just swap in & out the singers, and make them lipsync to vocals that weren't their own, like "Captain Jack".
THIS SONG WAS SO CATCHY and the format for this genre STILL WORKS! The 4/4 beats, and the upbeat lyrics applied to various buzz words, like this song frequently uses. Like "Planet of The Bass" or randomly sexy language about phone sex, and "I love you", or throwing in Fantasy & Sci-Fi themes, and things like "World Peace" or "Stop the war!"
But, EVERYONE just LOVED THIS SONG!
I think it just PROVES that PEOPLE NATURALLY LOVED EURODANCE TECHNO the 90s style! It blends, House Music, Synth, rap, melodies, and various concepts.

This track came along in my radar about 2024-2025, so I thought I'd revisit it here. It's Native America with House Music & Electronic Elements. THE MOST POPULAR TRACK they made is "Electric Pow Wow" and it's so popular with kids "from the Rez" (as we/they call it) because we/they're no longer afraid of our/their heritage, and celebrate it OPENLY and flaunt it on Social Media.
Despite many people having NEGATIVE experiences due to CoVID Lockdown, NOT EVERYONE DID, and since that time period I've seen these kinds of things shoot off into major popularity, including the dance competitions from the Pow Wows. It makes me feel PRETTY GOOD to know that our future generations CARE about our tribal nations' heritage and preserve and evolve it.
